How Does the Medicine Wheel Work?

The basic medicine wheel is usually drawn as a circle with four equal quadrants that look like a times or plus symbol in the center. Then specific colors fill each space, depending upon the lesson or significance designed by the tribe or nation.

Medicine wheel of the Lakota Native American p...

There are thousands of versions of medicine wheels that exist, each serving a purpose, depending on the circumstance. What I mean is, there is a medicine wheel for every situation — whether its personal, business or the planting of crops — there is a medicine wheel that methodically helps you to understand what has to be done next.

“Much of the path to learning wisdom is about patience and timing.” – Chief Robert TallTree

This is what society today is still trying to discover. With the way the world has grown and its use of high-powered computers, new discoveries are being made aware of almost daily. Unfortunately, people can only absorb or learn at a speed that is much like the old story of the rabbit and the turtle.

My uncle, Young Thunder, often loved to sit and watch the world as it presented itself…and he would say, “If they only knew how much extra work that they are creating for themselves and stopped to take a breath, they could live a richer life.”

And I would respond by saying, “Why don’t they use the medicine wheel?” Uncle would shake his head and sigh, “If they only could…”

Uncle has returned to our ancestors now but his thoughts are still within my Heart — “If they only could…”

The teachings of most medicine wheels generally start like a compass beginning in the east and moving clockwise – stopping in each direction to discuss the significance of its purpose, until the teacher and the student has completed the circle.

In reality, you will ‘walk’ around the circle again and again. And there are many layers of understanding that unfold as you delve deeper into the medicine wheel teachings.

In fact, you could dedicate your entire life to just one of the sacred directions, and still have much to learn about it.

To discover more about the ancient wisdom of the medicine wheel, and how to use it as a diagnostic tool in your life, The Journey is a simple, yet powerful program that helps you develop a conscious relationship with each of the Sacred Directions.

What Kind of Spiritual Awakening Will Help You Manifest Your Hopes and Dreams?

If you’ve been even a little frustrated by not being able to ‘manifest on command’ you’ve probably wondered what it would take to consistently achieve your hopes and dreams. By it’s very nature, Native American culture can bring about a spiritual awakening that can help you in every area of your life — including any goal or desire you might have.

Robert TallTree, Founder of www.AmericanIndianWisdom.com - What Kind of Spiritual Awakening Will Help You Manifest Your Hopes and Dreams? And I’m not talking about some kind of crazy, woo-woo stuff that people try to pass off where all you have to do is ‘think’ about something and POOF! it magically appears.

There’s a certain magical quality to a true spiritual awakening, but it’s not like that. One of the most powerful things about our American Indian culture is that it’s so grounded! We see purpose and meaning in everything around us.

So let’s get real and you’ll see how it works…

Just got off the the phone with Tina. She decided yesterday that she is beginning her “Miracle Mindshift” this Friday.

Pay attention, ’cause this is SO cool…

She’s already received her first unexpected, ‘miraculous’ manifestation!

Now, what’s really cool is that she did “Mindshift” last year and saw BIG results, so she knew that would happen again.

But she didn’t expect it to begin until AFTER she ‘officially’ started.

Ok, let’s get to it (you know, the juicy stuff we promised)…

What do you think caused her to start getting results before she even started?

You’re no beginner to this stuff, so we don’t have to tell you that you are deeply and significantly connected to an expansive, collective energy ‘field’ - a living matrix, if you will.

This is why we always say “we are all related.” It’s a fact, and can be scientifically demonstrated. Even our cellular structure is mostly similar to other living beings. In this way, we are more alike than we are different. We are connected…

And you are most likely aware that your thoughts have an energetic resonance that is communicated within that ‘field.’

This is why our Elders say that your thoughts are more powerful than an atomic weapon, and that your “First Arrow of Power” is ‘the thoughts you think.’

Now, back to what Tina experienced. The moment she made a decision she set things in motion. So you can see that by simply committing yourself to something, you will immediately start getting feedback from that intention.

That’s your first step: Commit yourself

When John Assaraf’s mentor told him the difference between interest and commitment, he gave him the first key to spiritual awakening. He said, “When you’re interested in something (being healthy, wealthy,  fill in the blank), you’ll do what’s convenient. But when you’re committed, you’ll do what’s necessary!”

When you compartmentalize and look specifically at goals as separate from life purpose, it appears that they may not be directly related…that goals are somehow ‘worldly’ and purpose is somehow ‘spiritual.’

If, however, you can see your goals within the circle of life as an outward expression of who you are and why you are here, then you recognize they are simply an extension of conscious creation. To ‘live on purpose’ is to live intentionally, and to be aligned with all the faculties you have: mind, body, spirit and emotions.

Now in order to get consistent ‘positive’ feedback (in other words, feedback and manifestation that is congruent with what you ‘want’), you have to be clear on what you want. That sounds redundant, but let’s take a closer look…

For the most part, you’ve been evolving into a more highly ‘awakened’ being — and you’ve become aware that you have some influence in creating your ‘reality.’

Just for fun, let’s pretend that you don’t always get what you want, and you’d like to know how to be more consistent with that.

OK, in the most simplistic terms, here’s what you do:

  • have a clear goal or objective in mind
  • invest some time every day connecting with that goal
  • clear the inner resistance that keeps you from it
  • reframe how you ‘see’ yourself on a deeper, subconscious level so you are aligned with being ‘that’ person who is, does or has whatever it is you want

You can do this for yourself and it will work. It’s actually quite simple. But because you are busy living your life and keeping up with all your responsibilities and obligations, you probably won’t — at least not consistently.

Now, why would I go and say that? Because that’s human nature.

It’s not because I think you can’t. I KNOW you can, and I believe in you!

You’re so busy being a ‘human doing’ and struggling. It’s not that you’ve never heard it before. And you’ve probably done some or all of it for awhile. But not consistently enough to make it a daily practice.

And since you already know that you’re capable of living a bigger life, and having more joy, more freedom and more options, you’ve probably been beating yourself up about why you still don’t get ‘it.’

Well, you are not alone. You might be surprised to know how many self-help ‘experts’ struggle with not having enough time, energy, joy…and yes, even prosperity. Like you, they can feel it’s so close, but they just can’t seem to consistently ‘reel it in.’

Today you have a choice…

You can continue the hit and miss approach that leads you to fluctuating experiences of ‘getting it’ and then ‘not getting it,’ or you can do something different.

This year we commit to touching the hearts and souls of more than half a million people, through a spiritual awakening that gives them the tools to set themselves free.

Your freedom begins with your First Arrow of Power…the thoughts you think.

The fastest, easiest and gentlest way that we know of to breakthrough your resistance to your next level is by particpating in the “Miracle Mindshift!

So you choose…are you ready? We’ve been waiting for you.

Native American Wisdom: Why Is It So Important?

Native American Inspirational Quotes

Native American Wisdom is the foundation of this country (the United States).

WOW! Now that’s quite a statement, but it is a truth. The first documents that were used by the ‘founding fathers’ of this land were derived from the way the Iroquois nation governed themselves.

Of course, to look at what the laws and constitution have evolved to today, you would probably not recognize the beauty of the original wisdom.

Native American Wisdom: Why Is It So Important? And it was the use of  that Indian wisdom that taught the first pioneers about the plants that are used for food and medicine. Without the knowledge shared by American Indians, the new settlers would not have survived.

So when you ask why Native American wisdom is important, you begin to realize that you are already immersed in it. The United States of America began its journey with the utilization of Indian wisdom to survive, grow and prosper.

In fact, it has been theorized that without the Indian wisdom of that time this nation may not have become one of the strongest super powers of the world.

Native American culture is based on relationships…

It acknowledges that all living beings are related, and have a responsibility to treat all others with dignity and respect.

This includes not only all of humanity, but also the four-leggeds, the wingeds, the swimmers, the crawlers…

Also to appreciate your relationship with the four elements: Earth, Water, Air and Fire.

First and foremost, as two-leggeds (human BEings), strive to live in balance and harmony – and honor the natural order of the Universe.

The best way to optimize American Indian wisdom is to humbly receive it – and then humbly give it away through your actions.

Through the teachings passed on from the elders, you can see that first you must awaken to your life purpose – and from that point on you find your place in this world. This causes you to live intentionally (on purpose).

When you live on purpose you feel a greater sense of ease in everything you do…

One of the keys to this is understanding how living on purpose is the initial step to self-mastery. That’s why the How to Live on Purpose website was created, and why the Life Purpose Quest was developed…to help YOU live on purpose.

Learn to live your life in this manner and you will leave knowing that you have lived a good life.

So if you wish to learn more about Indian wisdom and how it can help you achieve greater ease and balance in your life, register for the Life Purpose Quest (it’s free).

If you have enjoyed this conversation on Native American wisdom, you can join us on a LIVE weekly call that comes with a special membership called the Voyager Gold Upgrade. You’ll receive a special invitation as soon as you register for the Life Purpose Quest, so be sure to accept it and you’ll get LIVE weekly coaching.

You won’t regret it…and that’s a promise.

Indian Wisdom: Where Can You Find It?

When it comes to Indian Wisdom, what comes to your mind?

To some you may think of India, while to others you may think American Indian. So to clarify the discussion today, let’s speak of American Indian Wisdom.

Indian Wisdom: Where Can You Find It?People of today are being bombarded with millions of bits of information – some through television, some through newspapers, and a ton of information through the web…that wonderful mechanism that automatically delivers right to your ‘door step’ an answer to any question you may pose.

So how can you sort through it all?

Well, many people believe that the web will do it for them – and, to a degree, that is true. Keeping in mind that most of the information is, by design, meant to eventually sell you something.

As long as you are aware that the system that you are interconnected with does have an ultimate goal, you can then use it for your own benefit.

This brings you back to the first question: Indian Wisdom…where can you find it?

I answer that question to my students with, ‘you will find it best when you are clear as to why this is so important to you.’

Of course, this still doesn’t completely answer the question. So I will answer it in another way:

“Wisdom is the understanding of what is True and what is not.”

It is the development of skills that allow you to have discernment.

In my early teachings with Native elders, it was always time that was the enabling power.

Your intuition is also a key factor.

I, and my wife Terri, was lucky to be in a place where wisdom was found among the Native elders of our nations.

Those elders took us under their wing. They groomed and guided us to be able to connect with that wisdom, and expand it.

So where do you first discover Indian wisdom? You’ve already begun…

Native American Jewelry is Medicine of Your Heart

Native American Inspirational Quotes

Hello my name is Chief TallTree and today we will give a brief discussion on Native American jewelry.

Years ago before the first Europeans arrived on this continent, the People of this land wore items that today are under the category of Native American jewelry.

Native American Jewelry Is Medicine of Your HeartBut actually, according to my Native elders, what some call jewelry was more, much more.

Back then – say, a couple hundred years ago – the items that we so lovingly made was created for the wearer to remember a moment of being honored.

Back then, everything you wore had a meaning, had a story…

And every time someone would ask about an item that was being worn, it presented the opportunity to relive those moments. This, according to my nation (the Chippewa), was the expression of how much love you were carrying.

This also reflected the Medicine of Your Heart. So I guess that the people of today aren’t much different in comparison to those of the past, except much of what is worn, has no magic -no love – no story.

What stories do you carry? Does it lighten your heart? Does it make you aware that you are loved?

Jewelry…what does it mean to you?

To me it speaks of a Story – one that warms my heart each time it is told.

We will Talk more of this later.

Take Care

What is Native American Art?

Native American Inspirational Quotes

What is Native American Art?

Native American art is history…it’s the reflection of an era when the First People of this land used organic materials to create the tools needed for hunting, fishing, gathering the harvest, warfare and anything else that was needed to survive.

Buffalo Robe by Robert TallTree, Founder of www.AmericanIndianWisdom.comIn other words, much of what is considered art today was considered common items to that time period. If an item has a documented story it becomes more valuable to the collector or historian.

But there is more to Native American art than history. As People who are not gone, we continue to evolve, live and thrive. Our creative expression can take on any form  – and use any media.

You can find contemporary Native art as well as art that has a historical reference.

Native American art always reflects some part of our culture…our journey. Sometimes it reflects upon our sense of humor. Other times it may reflect upon our struggle and our suffering.

All art is an expression, an interpretation, a communication…

If the item is connected to a reflection of a moment of courage, or moment of romance, it’s valuable. According to my friends, anything that can induce an emotion is valuable.

If the item is handmade by a recognized tribe and is beautiful to the beholder, it is valuable.

So as you can see, to try to pin down what Native American art is can become very elusive. Of course to me, Native American art is working on the interpetation of a moment of time — one that allows just enough room for the person receiving the artistic piece to be in a place of wonder.

What do you think?

What Is Spiritual Intelligence?

What Is Spiritual Intelligence 300x195 What Is Spiritual Intelligence?Playing it safe..how’s that working for you?

Meeting with your spiritual intelligence takes guts.  Take my brother-in-law for example:

He entered into a clinic he has visited many times before as he has colon cancer.  That’s right, the dreaded words that no one in their right mind wants to hear…Cancer!!!

Here’s the interesting thing:  He’s in a good place about it even though he has been dealing with the therapy and constant pain. He’s at peace.  He has reached that place, a place of spiritual intelligence, after two years of fighting, to a place of peace between him and God.  And as I watch this once strong and vibrant human being, I’m struck in awe with his courage and resilience.

He truly makes the world look pale in its priorities of what life truly is about.  You see, Roy is really about taking chances, taking risks, and exploring new opportunities because his life depends upon it.

So what have you done that is worth living for?

Where is your spiritual intelligence?

Or maybe you’re like millions of people today that have gotten caught up in a boring daily routine.  You know – get up, have cereal, drive to work, come home, watch TV, play with the computer or Wii, and then go to bed and start the same day all over again.

Did you know that millions and millions of people have been born, lived, and died without a hint or word that they even existed?

What was their passion about?

What were they born to do?

Maybe they were meant to find a cure for cancer, or maybe they were meant to be the world’s best peace advocate.  But somewhere in the cares of life, they lost sight of the big picture, as they were born for greatness.

Are you using your spiritual intelligence?

With the teachings of the Native American elders, it is said that all human beings have a purpose.  In fact, on the day you were born, the whole universe celebrated.

But where do you begin?

  • Start following the bent of your nature
  • Seek to follow people of great wisdom, you may be given the greatest opportunity any human being can have
  • Leave a legacy, one that inspires others to seek, learn, and release to the world that it is a better place because of your belief in God and knowing that God makes no mistakes

You too can reach your spiritual intelligence. If you’re ready to tap into a deeper experience with your own spiritual intelligence, make sure you check out “The Journey” at http://howtoliveonpurpose.com/journey

Earth Changes: How Can You Take Care of Mother Earth?

All You Need Is Love” is a song that was written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon/McCartney.

Well, the same goes for our Mother Earth… all you need is love.

how-can-you-take-care-of-mother-earth

The environmental destruction that continues to go on day after day comes from being disconnected — and most people aren’t even aware of it.  It’s not easy to change your behavior until you have awareness.

As Native people, loving the Earth is as natural as breathing.  It’s not something we work at, so it’s difficult for us to understand how people don’t recognize that everything they do to the Earth, they do to themselves.

Every plant, animal, bird, fish and insect is a beautiful part of Creation.  Our elders say that without the animals, we would die of loneliness…

Each and every action you take has a definite, long-lasting effect on all living beings.  You may not be aware of it, but you are intimately connected to everyone — and everything.

Right now, there are unseen forces working together to guide and protect you.  Some people refer to these as ‘angels’ while others call them ‘spirits.’

Do you know how to listen to and ‘hear’ all of life speaking to you? Wouldn’t you like to know what it is saying?

If you’d like to learn more about how to openly communicate with the loving forces in Nature, we created a video called “The Four Brothers.”Four Brothers DVD - The Three Arrows of Power by Chief Robert TallTree and Terri Lynn TallTree

Do you love the Earth?

You say you do… in fact, most people you ask would say “Yes, of course.”

So what are you doing to show your Mother Earth some love?  How can you take care of the Earth Mother?

You can always start small. You don’t need to take on everything at one time — and starting with one thing is a GREAT beginning.

Waste…

Waste can mean so many things. How about we start with using less plastic.

Have you ever thought of ways to get around using less plastic?

Yes, it might seem hard at first, and there are some things you may not be able to avoid using that are plastic.  But you really CAN make a big difference with just a little effort

Take a moment and look through everything you have. If it is plastic:

  • Are you able to recycle it?
  • Do you recycle it?
  • How can you reuse it as many times as possible?

You know that the reality is that you cannot entirely avoid plastic. The world has made it such a part of your life.  It’s up to you to make conscious choices.

Here are a few ideas on how to change using plastics:

  1. Get milk in a paper carton — not a plastic jug
  2. If you get ice cream try to get in a paper carton not plastic tub (If you use a plastic tub reuse it.  Why not make it a compost bucket?  We keep one under our kitchen sink.)
  3. For your ink cartridge  instead of throwing it away and getting a new one go get it refilled (not only are you saving the earth but you are saving yourself money!) and have it recycled.

Those are just a few ideas.

You can go to a cool place to learn 20 ways to reuse old plastic bags: CHECK IT OUT HERE

Show your Mother Earth some LOVE and start looking at new ways to use what you have.

And, on a much deeper level, awaken to the awareness that you are connected to all living things.  Start living in a more thoughtful, conscious way so you can experience the beauty that is your birthright.  When you see how much life is trying to communicate with you, you will be changed forever!

Where Do I Find Good Native American Flute Music?

When was the last time you were soothed by Native American flute music?

Roxie loved searching you tube for Native American flute music.  She just loved the way it sounded and it always brought her peace.

Native American flute music playerOne day in her searches she had an idea… “I should really just buy a cool CD or get a download of Native American flute music.”

“I mean, why not?” she thought to herself.  “Even if I am at the office and I am stressed to the max with being overwhelmed with e-mails, texts, phone calls and reports I am always relaxed by that soothing Native American flute music.”

A week went by and she kept thinking about it but just seemed to get too busy to actually go online and buy one.  “This is silly, I can make time for facebook and for texting my friends but I STILL have not bought any Native American flute music!  Why do I keep putting it off?” Roxie thought to herself.

Friday the boss was really pressing Roxie hard and she was about to loose it… “I am about to have a breakdown if I do not cool myself off,” Roxie huffed under her breath.

Then it was like a light bulb went off in Roxie’s brain… “OHHHHHH yeah……my CD!”

Roxie jumped on her computer.  She turned her cell phone on silent, turned her monitor off, and set the ringer in her office to the lowest setting possible.

Roxie was typing like a woman on a mission… She typed in… Native American Flute Music… and there it was.

It seemed to almost jump into her lap it felt so right for her… This is what it said at the top of the page:

What If You Could Reduce Your Anxiety, Worry and Stress and Feel Calm, Relaxed and Confident… Right NOW?

It’s easier than you think, and here’s how…

Roxie’s heart jumped out of her chest…”YES!  That’s it!  This is what I NEED,” Roxie squealed.  Some things are a want but this was a need!!!  Roxie knew she could no longer continue down the road she was on with her life being stressed out all the time.  It was like every time she was not even at work she was thinking about it and stressing about the next day before she even got there!

Do you ever feel like Roxie?

Stressed at work and it doesn’t stop even when you get away from work?

Do you need to relax and get calm?

Take a deep breath… inhale and exhale.

You are not alone!  You can check it out for yourself: stress has been linked to many medical ailments, and has been called the “silent killer.”

Stress can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, chest pain, and an irregular heartbeat.  (Chilnick, Lawrence. 2008. Heart Disease: An Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed. Philadelphia, PA: Perseus Books Group)

Stress is no JOKE!!!

The tool that Roxie found on line to help her get quick relief from stress is:
